Our Mission

The physical therapists are autonomous qualified health care professionals who have vital contributions in the promotion of health through the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of movement dysfunctions and enhancement of the functional abilities of members of the public.

The physical therapists, as members of the health care team at Al-Adan Hospital, provide physical therapy services to the patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The major job responsibilities of the physical therapists can be summarized as follows:

Identifying the rehabilitation priority needs of the patients, conducting comprehensive therapy assessment related to the diagnosis with proper plan of care in order to restore and maintain maximum function and independence.

The mission of the physical therapy department at Al-Adan hospital is to provide quality care to the patients we serve in both inpatient and outpatient settings in an effective, efficient, professional, and compassionate manner.


Our Vision

The vision of the physical therapy department at Al-Adan hospital is to be recognized in the state of Kuwait as an outstanding physical therapy department with high quality staff members.

The areas for development of our department and the actions that will lead to an outstanding performance are summarized as follows:

  • Assuring continuous quality improvement to attain and maintain the highest standards of practice possible.
  • Promoting community awareness about physiotherapy by increasing participation in community in-service programs.
  • Promoting continuous professional growth through ongoing educational activities and researches to keep up-to-date with the current concepts in the field of physiotherapy.
  • The most challenging developmental plan is to have a new high-class rehabilitation center to accommodate the continuously increasing needs of rehabilitation services in Al-Ahmadi region, and to meet the requirements and exceed the expectations of our patients.

Our Staff

• Under the supervision of the head of the department 90 male & female physiotherapists are working in the out-patient & in patient units with different specialties. Also there are 4 occupational therapists.

• The physiotherapists are with bachelor degree or higher according to the ministry regulations. We are following the administration of physical therapy in the ministry of health.

• All the physiotherapists are aiming to provide a high quality service through improving their therapeutic skills & knowledge through researches & workshops that focus on the new era of physiotherapy.

• The physiotherapist respects the patient rights & duties toward himself & his medical condition. Also he/she respects the patient privacy & explains to him/her all the information regarding his sessions & home program which help reaching the highest functional level.

Out-patient Unit

Our department receives a huge number of patients referred by the physical medicine & the specialized clinics. Each physiotherapist in the female & male units receives 8-10 cases/day. All the orthopedic & neurological cases receive treatment by using the most advanced therapeutic skills & equipments. In the pediatric unit each therapist receives 4-5 cases/day & each patient has a session of 45 minutes. The patients receive a full rehabilitation program such as the CP, developmental delay, orthopedic & pulmonary conditions.


In-patient Unit

Each physiotherapist assigned to one of the wards were they receive the patient referrals & go through full evaluation followed by a plan of treatment that will be modified as the patient condition improved to meet the goals of his/her plan. Also they go through professional discussions & consultation regarding their patient’s status.


The Occupational Therapy Unit

Each occupational therapist receives number of patients according to their specialty. They apply an evaluation followed by planned therapy sessions to achieve the highest functional level of their activities of daily living.
